Empire in Decay is a roguelike deckbuilding turn-based tactical game, loosely based on chess. Its gameplay has been broadened with the use of cards and the progression of units. In the game, you'll proceed through procedurally generated routes across the districts of Daandria, the capital of the Empire.
In your journey to the Throne Hall to face the King, you will have to fight turn-based combats through different locations, collect cards and upgrade them, recruit units to support your cause and enhance them, find relics and forge artifacts to boost your powers, and use all your cunning and skill to make your way through waves of enemies.
Tactical Roguelikd Deckbuilder inspired by chess. Your characters move and capture like chess pieces. Your positioning and movement matters so you have to think carefully before each move.
You have 6 different types of units for each of the 4 playable factions, each with their one special behaviours and playstyles. Each one can also be improved giving the game a lot of versatility and depth.
Cards allow you to place units on the board o perform special actions.
Some of this special actions are attacks that can be used on any enemy on the board. Others require you to have a unit adjacent to the target or affect areas of the board.
Finally, there are also defensive and utility cards that will heal, add armor, remove debuffs, or give other boons to your units.
Over 200 cards, 30+ gems to add to cards, 70+ units, and more than 100 heirlooms to unlock, collect, and combine. Each run will be different.
You need to adapt to the what you receive to face the enemies you'll encounter. Experiment with different strategies and synergies to find your own path to victory.
All these elements, along with a curated and carefully crafted 3D models and animations make up for an immersive and strategic experience that will challenge your tactical thinking, reward your creativity and immerse you in the world of Empire in Decay.
